Jane Throndsen becomes Director of Fotografiska Oslo
Fotografiska – the world’s leading contemporary photography museum – will open in Oslo in 2028. It has now been announced who will lead this major initiative: one of Norway’s top media figures, Jane Throndsen, has been appointed as director.
Throndsen was chosen from 150 Norwegian and international applicants. She will be responsible for building up Fotografiska Oslo – a new major hub for photographic art in the heart of the capital.
“We are convinced that Jane Throndsen, working closely with the Norwegian photography community, will be able to realize Fotografiska’s vision: to create a cultural meeting point and unforgettable experiences for visitors,” says Harald Møller, Chairman of Møller Eiendom and initiator of bringing Fotografiska to Norway, as well as a passionate photography collector.
Fotografiska is a world-leading institution in contemporary photography with an international network of museums in Stockholm, Berlin, Shanghai, and Tallinn.
“I am pleased to welcome Jane as Director of Fotografiska Oslo. Her leadership, vision, and deep understanding of photography will be crucial in establishing Fotografiska as a dynamic and inclusive cultural space – in the heart of Norway. With Oslo’s rich creative landscape, this marks an exciting new chapter in our global journey to celebrate and share the power of photography,” says Bárbara Garcia, CEO of Fotografiska.
